Learn to create a PowerPoint soft shadow for objects and shapes in your presentation. This softer effect gives a much more realistic and professional look than the preset shadow effects available within PowerPoint.

We use the gradient and transparency options to create this effect.
The tutorial is created in PowerPoint 2013.

Here is an example of the before ( regular shadow) and after shadow effects (soft shadow effect ):
