Discover a simple way to create web style PowerPoint text boxes. Follow our step by step instructions to create these useful graphics for your business presentations.
Here is the text box you’ll learn to create:
The blue and red ‘clip on’ tabs add style to otherwise boring text box design. In this article you’ll learn to create those clips from scratch. Once you understand the basic design you can come up with your own variations. We will show you some examples of web style text boxes after the tutorial.
Step 1: Draw the visible part of the clip
The clip on the text box is made of two layers. The top layer is the visible part. In our example it is the portion that looks like a red arrow. You can draw the shape using ‘Pentagon’ tool in ‘Block Arrows’ option. Fill the shape with the color of your choice and remove outline:
Step 2: Draw the layer at the back
The next step is to draw the layer at the back of the clip. For this, go to ‘Basic shapes’ in auto shapes menu and select the ‘Trapezoid’ tool. Once you draw the trapezium on your slide, go to Arrange -> Rotate -> Flip vertically.
Step 3: Place a rounded rectangle in between the layers
The last step is to place a rounded rectangle in between the two layers of the clip.
Variations of the graphic:
